Buttocks augmentations is also called gluteoplasty. There currently are
two kinds of augmentation for the buttocks. The first of these is the
enlarging of the buttocks and the second of these is the lifting of the
buttocks. The enlarging of the buttocks includes inserting a synthetic,
molded implant into the buttocks or enlarging through the substances of
elastomer.
Butt Lifting
In recent years the Brazilian butt lift has become increasingly popular
where a physician injects an individual's buttocks with shape-modifying
substances. These substances often include fat transfer from one
portion of the body to another, fat grafting from one portion of the
body to another, and fat injections.
The butt lift procedure combines liposuction and fat injections at the
same time. After a physician performs liposuction around the buttocks,
he or she will use the acquired fat to inject the correct portions of
the buttocks for the desired appearance. Fat for this procedure can
also be acquired from other portions of an individual's body, such as
the abdomen or legs.
Before fat is re-injected into the body, the fat undergoes
purification. Depending on the individual's needs, several different
injections may be necessary to achieve the desired appearance.
Implanting
Buttock implants are quite similar to breast implants but are
considered to be made of a stronger substance. Rather than use saline
to fill implants, buttock implants use a substance known as elastomer.
Elastomer will not leak and is more durable than saline implants. While
performing a buttock implant procedure, a physician will create
incisions on top of the buttock muscles and just below the fascia that
surrounds these muscles. The implants will then be placed in the
necessary position. Scars from the incisions will most often decrease
within a year of surgery.
Fat Grafting
Some physicians choose to use the technique of fat grafting rather than
fat injection. Fat grafting will pinpoint the necessary areas that
specifically require augmentation. Fat grafting does not include
injecting substances into the body but rather inserts drops of fat
through incisions into different portions of the body. This procedure
often provides a more realistic shape that is more aesthetic than other
techniques.
Body Augmentation
Many individuals who undergo buttock augmentation are women and
transgender women. Since the typical woman's body has many curves,
including a rounded buttocks, this appearance is widely sought.
Transgender individuals often undergo this procedure to even out the
contrast between the hips and the buttocks to create a more feminine
physique. Because this surgery is for the purpose of augmenting the
hips through buttock augmentation, this technique is often called hip
augmentation.
Complications
Similar to any kind of surgery, buttock augmentation comes with many
kinds of risks and possible complications. Some deaths have been
reported due to gluteoplastic surgery and the complications associated.
Because substances and fat are being injected back into the body during
surgery, the body may carry those substances to the lungs, the brain,
and other parts of the body. In these cases complications in those
areas of the body can occur and result in infection and even death.
